An Associate Swimmer is a swimmer who is presently a swimmer with a university varsity program and wishes to participate in Legends programming between academic sessions or after the varsity program has ended. While usually an Associate Swimmer would be an alumnus of the Legends Swimming program, this is not a requirement.
Associate Swimmers are ambassadors and representatives of the St. John’s Legends in Canada and out of the country, as well as mentors for our current swimmers, and are therefore very important for our program. The relationship is important in the other direction as well. Along with providing additional training and competition possibilities, at certain events such as the Olympic Trials, varsity swimmers are required to register with a “home club” rather than their university team.
Any varsity swimmer who wishes to join the Legends as an Associate Swimmer during the AUS / U-Sport offseason or who wishes to attend national events under the Legends banner is encouraged to request Associate Swimmer status by emailing the Head Coach at: coachalec@sjlegends.com
