Swimmer Offshore Travel Assistance Fund
(SOTA)

SOTA is a fund designed to financially assist registered swimmers in Newfoundland and Labrador to attend SNC designated off island meets. Funding is provided by Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador though the swimming fees.    

The Swim NL Policy for SOTA is defined below and is administered by Swimming NL. 

  1. The SOTA year will run for a twelve (12) month period beginning on September 1 of each year.
  2. SOTA funds must be applied for by August 31st in the current fiscal year for which the meet is swum.  
  3. A qualifying swimmer can apply for SOTA funding for each meet attended, to a maximum funding of $2000 in a swim calendar year.
  4. The SOTA levels shall be designated as per SNC standards:
    1. Canadian Swimming Trials: A swimmer shall be eligible for a maximum of $500.00.
    2. Canadian Short COurse Championships: A swimmer shall be eligible for a maximum of $500.00.
    3. Canadian Swimming Open: A swimmer shall be eligible for a maximum of $500.00.
    4. Ken Demchuck International Invitational: : A swimmer shall be eligible for a maximum of $300.00.
    5. Ontario Junior International shall be eligible for a maximum of $300.
    6. Atlantic Team Initiatives (not confirmed) - any swimmer selected to represent Atlantic Canada (Atlantic All-star Team) eligible for a maximum of $200

While the Legends can provide advice/information on the fund based on pervious experience and recent history, applications are are submitted directly to Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador.
